Please Pray!
February 3, 2010  |  Haiti, Health, Travels

Although logistics, distribution, and communication are a huge part of our trip to Haiti next week, we know that your intercession and prayers for us while we are away are vital to this trip. Personally, I request prayer for health – I have a super weak stomach and a speaking engagement in the DC area a couple of days after I return and I want to stay well to serve in Haiti, and to share about it the weekend after in DC.

There are many other things for which you can pray, and I ask you to leave those things in the comments on this post so we can read (and re-read) them as we travel and serve in Haiti. Below is a form that simply asks if you can commit to praying for us one (or more) days of our trip. Please pass this on to any of your friends who may be burdened for Haiti or are people of prayer.

Thanks for your commitment to prayer for us while we’re gone and for your words and reminders of God’s faithfulness. I’ll be sharing more about the trip and the details next week.

  1. Anne, I’m going to be praying that God goes before you and behind you everywhere you go, and that he gives you supernatural insight and wisdom into opportunities to minister and love on those you meet. OF course I will also be praying for strength and endurance and health in the days ahead and protection for you in every situation.

Blessings, friend! May God go with you and may his angels surround you.

  2. I am so excited for you as you step out in this, I am only a little bit envious (aren’t we not supposed to be that or something?). I pray that God would bless all of you while you are working down there, that He would keep each of you safe, that He would use each of you in a meaningful way in expressing His love to someone in need. I also just want to lift up all the pain and questions that are being cried out right now in Haiti. The Lord is there, as He is everywhere, though He may be hard to see.

  3. I’ve added you to my calendar and set reminders. I’ll be praying for safety and health both physically, spiritually, and emotionally. The enemy likes to attack when we are actively doing God’s will. Also praying that He would minister to you in a great way while you’re down there.

  5. Anne, I’m praying for you as you minister to the Haitians and each other during this trip. It’s a fun crowd that you’re with. I pray that you all leave footsteps of love, mercy, and grace all over Haiti.

  7. Will be praying as you guys wrap up to finish strong.

    Do good.

  8. Anne, I am praying that you will be hid by the cross of Jesus Christ as you walk through the streets of Haiti and that you will see through the eyes of the Lord and not through Anne’s eyes so you can boldly serve Him.and the Haitians. Will pray for supernatural strength for you and everyone with you. God bless!

  9. i pray that God goes before you…and paves the way for all of you that are going. i pray that He begins to minister to the people there that you all will come across with, that His ministering angels would surround them & touch their hearts.

i ask and plead the blood of Christ to cover your whole team – that you would all stay healthy, protected and secured under His wings.

i also pray that God would speak to you all individually on this trip…that as you go there to refresh others, you yourselves will be refreshed…and that God would meet you there in such a unique way.

have FUN on your trip. give the children, men, and women there lots & lots of HUGS!

i will be praying. (like prudence said…it will be on my calendar to remind me)

  10. Marked you all down for everyday. I have spent some time in Haiti and absolutely fell in love with the people there..I suspect you will also. I trust God will do some amazing things through you and the others as you serve.

  11. Anne, prayer for your trip is scheduled with an alert at 1pm eastern time every day. I will be praying outside of that time, but you can count on a prayer each day midday. Have a great trip, and we will be excited to hear about it!

  12. In light of recent news coverage of the current situation with those who wanted to help the children, I’ll be praying that the people will be fearful of Americans coming to help. And, that they will see God in you and through you.

  13. oooooh, where in DC will you be?! i’d love to hear you share!

  14. Dear Heavenly Father,

I lift Anne and her team up to you Lord. They do not know what lies ahead, but You do Father. Let them feel Your Loving Arms around them Lord no matter what they face. Please give them strength and courage and wisdom Lord. Let them feel your Supernatural presence (which I affectionately call my “Jesus bubble”) whether in an airport, in a plane, or on the ground in Haiti.

In the Precious Name of Jesus Christ, I rebuke satan and his minions and ask for a hedge of protection around Anne and her team. Lord, I specifically ask you to coat Anne’s stomach with some heavenly maalox and protect her from feeling sick. Strengthen her immune system Father, so that she returns home healthy and is able to continue the work that You have called her to do.

I thank you in advance Father for protecting this team as they travel to Haiti to be Your hands and Your feet. Thank you Jesus.

    Amen.

Kirsten’s note: Several times in my life when I have felt in the presence of evil, I call upon my “Jesus bubble” and picture it around me. I feel safe and secure there in my Father’s arms.

  15. Anne & Team:

I will be praying that you’ll be overwhelmed by the joy you see in the eyes of so many over there…a joy that has no regard for circumstances. And I hope that you all see perhaps one of God’s finest moment happening in what looks to us like Haiti’s darkest hour.

Thank you all for being a part of that moment.

I specifically pray for each child that Anne comes in contact with-Give her strength to love on each one; please give them hope, thru this team!…Protect her heart, Dear God, and help her cope with the conditions she walks into… Help her stomach to not be weak; but strong! I love you, Jesus. Amen and Amen.

I believe in you, Anne. :-)

  18. Anne,
I will be praying for you and your team. I will be praying that the Lord will guard your heart, mind and body in Christ Jesus.
I pray that Jesus will use you to be His hands and His feet as you go forth in His name to love and care for the people of Haiti. I pray that the Holy Spirit will work in and through you in a mighty way during this trip. I pray that power and victory of Christ will be evdient, in the midst of much darkness.
I pray too that the Lord will use you to encourage other laborers who are already there and/or will remain there when y’all leave.
Asking the Lord to grant you strength and encouragement as you come back and share your experience with others.
    Blessings,
    Christie

  19. Thank you everyone for your prayers. You have no idea how encouraging reading these were for my heart tonight.

Much, much love to you all.

  20. I’ll be praying daily. Added to my calendar as a “Task” but only because Outlook doesn’t have a “Privilege” button. :) Seriously, hope you and everyone with you as well as the many who are already there will be lifted up and able to bring relief to those in need.

Kind of odd but for some reason it jumped out to me… you’ll be there 7 days according to your prayer dates above. In the middle of that 7 is Feb 14. Perhaps something symbolic of a trip with LOVE at it’s core.

  21. Going to be praying for you on Feb 14 …while everyone is getting all mooshy and thinking that love is all abotu hearts and flowers…you will be demonstrating Gods unending love for those who need it by the bucketload at the moment.

  22. Will definitely be praying that God goes before you and behind you, Anne, and that you will be His hands and His feet to so many that are in need.

Also, don’t know if you ever read the devotional ‘Daily Light’ by Bagster and Lotz? but I wanted to post today’s devotion as it seemed fitting. Here it is…

Be strong… and work; for I am with you.” says the Lord of Hosts.

I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. The joy of the Lord is your strength.

Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Let your hands be strong, you who have been hearing in these days these words by the mouth of the prophets.” Strengthen the weak hands, and make firm the feeble knees. Say to those who are fearful-hearted, “Be strong, do not fear!” The Lord turned to him and said, “Go in this might of yours.”

If God is for us, who can be against us? Therefore, since we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we do not lose heart.

Let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Thanks be to God, who gives us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

  23. I’m agreeing with Daniel. I’m adding daily prayer as a task only because i cannot add it as a privilege. just as it is a privilege to call you friend and to have walked the streets of PAP. please know that as you walk through the villages and orphanages that Christ walks with you. that His hands and feet guide your mind, heart and hands. know that His will is divine and that He will keep you close as you offer yourself wholly as His hands and feet. be safe and be well. as my dad always said, “not to be served, but to serve”.
    peace my friend <3

  24. I’ll be praying everyday.

I wanted to say “May God be with you” but he WILL be you.

You can do anything through him. :)

Do good Anne. We expect stories when you come back.

  25. Nothing to add to the great comments already posted, but you will be in my thoughts and prayers, Anne.

  26. Gracious Father, thank you for calling Anne to work in Haiti and for Anne’s heart which has humbly heard that call. I pray that You would protect and sustain Anne and her team – during this trip and the journeys there and back – in Your sovereignty and steadfast love. May they be reminded every day of Your faithfulness to complete what You have started in them. In the name of Your precious Son. Amen.

  27. I’ll be praying for you — and my youth ministry “friends” (I’ve only actually met a few, but connected online with most of the group) — every day. I think I’ll set my calendar alarm for 4:53 each day … it’s the same time that the earthquake struck. It won’t just be to remember the disaster, but to pray that out of it may come a new birth of hope for the Haitian people. You and the guys are definitely part of bringing that hope to life …

  28. Anne,
Sherry and I will be praying. I have been helping G.O. Ministries with their work getting relief in Haiti by designing a website for their ministry as a sort of Update / Communications hub so everyone involved can know what they are doing. It has been a real blessing for me to feel like I was doing something to help since I couldn’t be on the ground. G.O. Ministries is making 10 to 13 relief flights from Sanitago to different points in Haiti everyday. Food, water, medical supplies, personnel are all part of their cargo. They have pilots with planes that have just shown up from all over the world to help. It has been overwhelming to watch God put it all together. If anyone wants to keep up with what they are doing, you can at http://gohelphaiti.org

You are going to see things and hear things and be immersed in things for which you have no control. Allow God to work through you and you will be fine. Take the work on yourself and it can be devastating emotionally. Let HIS Light shine through you. Leave your flashlight at home. (Not really cause your really gonna need one)

Go in Christ – We love you guys

    • Anne, I am truly jealous, I admit it, that you get to go to the place that has been on my heart for so long. I pray that God would open your eyes to see what he sees and open your ears to hear what he hears. I pray that you words and actions would bring healing to the broken hearted and hope to the hopeless. I pray that God would show his father-heart through you to the fatherless and that He would do more than you could possibly wish for or ask. I pray that the people of Haiti would know that they have not been forgot or neglected or left without hope; that God sees and he remembers them. I pray that you would make know the depth and the height of God’s great love to everyone you have the opportunity to meet.

Oh yeah, and hug all the little people you can for me. God knows they need it.

  29. Anne, the four of us have been praying for you each night since you announced you were going to Haiti. We will continue that – every night. God bless you there.

Everyone who’s already commented has done a beautiful job telling how they’re going to pray. Don’t think we can add much to that – we’ll just say “Amen!”

  30. Hi Anne,

You can bet I’ll be praying. I’m leading the AIM intercessors team that will proceed and overlap your trip, so I expect to meet you in Haiti.

You might be ready to get away from that male-dominated team of yours and slip away with us women for a tiny slip of time where our team schedules overlap. No worries, I won’t be kindnapping (whoops, I meant kidnapping but I suppose kindnapping is more appropriate) you – but just wanted to let you know we’ll be looking out for ya!

  31. I’ve written my prayer days into my day planner . . . I will be praying for you. I’m sure there are a thousand thoughts on your mind and a thousand emotions in your heart, and it’s neat to think that God knows every single one of them and will answer all the questions that need to be answered but will allow whatever mystery should remain for you to learn whatever unexpected lessons He may want to teach you. I hope your journey will be filled with unexpected joys and that you will have all of the strength and courage you need as you go. It is Christ who lives in you, and His strength will be perfected in any weakness you may encounter in yourself.

  33. Praying for you this evening as your prepare to head out for your trip. I will be thinking of you, as you get to wake up in 6 hours. I’ll take the puppy jumping on my face as my cue to pray in the morning (usually about 4:30). May the Lord bless you and keep you. May you be the Lord’s heart, hands and voice during your time in Haiti. May you be the voice of Haiti as you report back to us about how we can be praying and serving during this time.
