I Need Your Help
February 2, 2010  |  Haiti

Thank you so much for contributing to my Haiti trip supply needs financially.

(If you are just getting caught up – I needed $350 and within a few minutes we reached the goal and I replaced the original post with this one.)

I CANNOT express how appreciative I am for your help.

If you would like to contribute to Adventures in Missions (the organization with whom I’m going), you can click here to see our strategy for the trip and click here to donate to help provide supplies on the ground.

LOVE YOU ALL.

  1. Maybe you’ve mentioned this and I’ve missed it, but what is your mission for this trip?

  2. just a suggestion… don’t throw anything out after the trip… pack a pair of flip flops or shoes that pack light and don’t take up much space… and come home with just the clothes on your back… leave the hiking shoes, the shirts, the everything!
I know you know this from previous trips, but having been to Haiti a few times… your gonna find someone for every item you take and then some!
    Peace

  3. you are doing several things by asking for help…

    1. letting God show how good He is

    2. giving others an opportunity to serve God financially

    3. honoring your family commitment to be debt free

    this ALL honors God.

  4. I didn’t think it would take long, but this happened a lot faster than I expected.

You got a lot of friends out there.

Thanks for letting us share in your journey.

  5. With respect, that link is a (rather vague) mission strategy for the organisation. You still haven’t been clear what it is *you* will be doing, and yet you continue to ask your readers for money…

    • I will be doing anything they ask. :)

We are doing distribution of supplies from AIM’s base in the DR into border communities (as stated in the strategy.)

We will be working with local pastors to determine needs for forthcoming trips (this is an advance team) for the organization (as stated in the strategy).

We will be praying with, interceding for, encouraging, and supporting those who have been traumatized both locals and those who are providing relief (this group going is largely comprised of pastors and counselors – including myself, a pastor).

We will be reporting back with opportunities to pray, give, and go. Communicating the needs long term in a non-CNN style, on the ground, in the specific areas this organization is working (and has been working, for years).

      On an aside:

This is the *first time* and is also the last time I have asked for any financial contribution for this trip, so I am confused at your statement about continually asking for money.

Unless you are referring to the $350,000 that my readers have already donated to various charities over the last three years, in which case, I do not apologize and am grateful for their amazing generosity. I don’t personally see a dime of that – goes straight to the organizations.

    • I read the link she posted and it seems pretty clear to me. Distribute, prayer, care, and communication. Not sure what you don’t see there.

    • and having been on the ground with AIM in the dr/haiti, i can also say that it’s hard to know what exactly one will be doing until you get there and even then, the situation is so fluid that really what one needs to “do” is to *be* available and flexible and prepared to anything. we need all hands on deck.

  8. Anne… I am happy to contribute towards this trip and have done so via the link. I’ve enjoyed reading your blog and following you on Twitter. I’m proud to see a Nelson author being so transparent and willing to jump in and make a difference. Will be praying for you and your team during the trip.

  9. Awesome, Anne. Glad to hear this. You’ve got a great tribe.

By the way, if anyone has questions about AIM’s long-term strategy in Haiti and how this group fits into that, I’m happy to answer any questions/concerns that people have.

  10. I believe you are going to be a great blessing. Our church sent money in January and will send more in our annual emphasis in April.
