Holy, Restless Anticipation by Anne Jackson

Stay right here a little while

Stay right here my dear

Hear me whisper to your heart

And take away your fear

For you soon will see

An unlikely king

And you soon will feel

A flesh that will heal

Oh, Divine, my Word on your lips

Find refuge in a holy kiss

Stay right here a little while

Stay right here my dear

Hear me whisper to your heart

And take away your fear

  1. Anne, this gave me holy goosebumps. Beautiful poem.

My friends just had twins this weekend so I’ve been thinking about baby Jesus a lot. Really puts it in a new perspective to see God as a vulnerable infant.

  2. Oh God, slow us down so we can rest. Give us courage to sit still and quiet. Help all our crazy strivings to cease.

We are so eternally needy. We so badly crave the closeness that only You are able to provide. Speak peace and truth into our weary souls.

Love us deeply, love us well.

  11. I’m not sure how I didn’t know this but you got mad skills for poetry. I’m not usually moved by poems but this was good. Merry Christmas to you and the Hubs. Be blessed, in Jesus’ name.
