so many good ones, but I love to see the original frosty and rudolph claymation type movies every year. I just bought “It’s a wonderful life”, because my wife has never seen it. In the words of John Piper, “that’s a tragedy!” Anne, I thought you liked Christmas, yet you haven’t seen any of the staple Christmas movies. I’m doubting your faith in Christmas here…
i know….brian, i know. it is a long story why i have not seen it, but maybe i’ll try for this year since we have netflix and are finally getting cable again.
-a charlie brown christmas
-how the grinch stole christmas
-a christmas story (btw, tnt runs an all-day marathon every year featuring this lovely classic.)
it is my theory that all great movies have a christmas scene in them, and if they don’t, they’re not worth watching.
when harry met sally, sleepless in seattle, christmas in connecticut (that’s an actual christmas movie), white christmas, holiday inn, lady & the tramp. the possible exception to the rule is dirty dancing.
The claymation Rudolph, Christmas Story, Christmas Vacation…………uhmmmmmmmmmmmmm, don’t anyone hit me when I say “Home Alone” (the first one was kind of cool)
I can’t believe Home Alone hasn’t made the list…not my favorite…but still!
I love them all!
Old grinch…A Christmas Story…National Lampoons…Charlie Brown…White Christmas…One Magic Christmas (little known…but a good movie from the 80′s)…Santa Calus the movie…Miracle on 34th Street(old and new)…A Christmas Carol…Scrooged ;)…yeah they’re all so good!
Seriously, if you watch A Christmas Story and are disappointed, maybe I can’t tell much about a person just by her blog. ;-) And I agree with all of the above, especially It’s A Wonderful Life for that warm, fuzzy Christmas feeling.
I guess my favorite animated is “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”. I’m watching “One Magic Christmas” now and that’s a pretty neat movie. I love “The Santa Clause” as a comedy movie. But of course there is the classic “A Garfield Christmas”, which by the way, I have on DVD. You rock Garfield!
“You’ll shoot your eye out!”
‘Nuff said.
can you believe i have never seen that?
Don’t laugh…….
It’s a Charlie Brown Christmas
That’s a sweet one too! Mine is either the old Rudolph or Frosty movies, but I’m watching Elf now and it is soooo funny.
While You Were Sleeping
or
the classic, It’s a Wonderful Life
Old School Rudolf
It’s a wonderful life… hands down the best movie
I have never seen that either, Victor!
National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.
Don’t forget Die Hard is a Christmas movie. ;)
It’s supposed to be “Too much metal for one hand.”
Diehard

Christmas Vacation… easy.

1 tongue + 1 frozen pole = disaster
3 way tie–
-a charlie brown christmas
-how the grinch stole christmas
-a christmas story (btw, tnt runs an all-day marathon every year featuring this lovely classic.)
I gotta go with Charlie Brown… When Linus gets on that stage and tells the Christmas story… I get teary eyed..

oh and my wife purchased the Charlie Brown one…..love it….do you think we’ll see it on normal TV?
christmas vacation…
can’t decide ….
best for laughs: Christmas Vacation or Elf
best for tears: It’s a Wonderful Life
best ‘kitsch’: White Christmas
How exactly have you manage to avoid “A Christmas Story”? I thought they sent it out free in the mail; like those little samples of laundry detergent.
Serendipity; not precisely a Christmas movie, but certainly very Christmas-y in parts.
For a straight-up Christmas movie, though, I don’t think I could ever beat White Christmas.
I don’t have one. How pathetic am I?
I can’t believe Home Alone hasn’t made the list…not my favorite…but still!

Miracle On 34th Street, the original. Also White Christmas. These are OLD movies … oldies but goodies. Also love The Santa Clause.
Of course I have to say Elf. It’s just who I am.
But if I wanted to say one I haven’t seen so far… I’d say, “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.”
I usually don’t care much for sequels but I absolutely love Home Alone 2: Lost in New York!
for sentamental reasons: Charlie Brown Christmas
however, Elf is amazing.
Seriously, if you watch A Christmas Story and are disappointed, maybe I can’t tell much about a person just by her blog. ;-) And I agree with all of the above, especially It’s A Wonderful Life for that warm, fuzzy Christmas feeling.
Harry Potter has Christmas scenes. Does that count? If not than Christmas Vacation!
A Christmas Story… My favorite line: “My father wove a tapestry of obsenities that, to this day, is still floating somewhere over Lake Erie”
And yeah, I LOVED Levi in concert! He is REALLY talented with his looping machine. Very cool.
love the new colors. far less dramatic and moody. :)
love you!
Elf

We watched The Nativity Story today…it was really pretty great. I’m sure it will be in theatres all season.
Christmas in Connecticut circa 1945. You need to watch it. Very funny…..
